Dear Members,

I hope that you are all keeping safe and well. Unfortunately it looks like it may be some time yet before we can get back to some sort of normality in our lives.

I wanted to update you on things that have happened since my last email to you.

A decision was made to furlough some staff in order that the Club can claim back some of the money that we pay out in salaries. All the Bar staff have been furloughed along with Vivian the Office Administrator.

Stuart our Secretary is continuing to work from home, with limited resources, in order that we can keep the club running as near normal as possible. He is able to provide a service that will ensure the business side of the club will continue to function as best it can be under difficult circumstances.

We have also furloughed two of the green keeping staff. Some clubs have furloughed all their greens staff, but we felt it was important that we continued the upkeep of our course, in order that when we get back to playing it will be in the best condition possible.

When we do resume playing and the greens staff numbers are back to four, Brian Toall has assured me they will spare no effort to get the course in the condition that we have become used to, and has made us the envy of many other courses in the Lothians.

We have also been in touch with the Royal Infirmary inviting NHS staff to make use of our car parking facilities during April if it can be of any help to them. This can be reviewed and extended if necessary.

Finally a word about you the members.

In what has been a testing time for everyone, it has been very rewarding to have had so many messages of support from you.

I know that a number of you may have many issues at this time but the level of financial support the club has received this month is excellent, and signifies the high regard you all have for your club.

As you know this is not going to be a quick fix so in order for the Club to continue to function going forward, and be in the best possible state when we return, I would once again ask for your continued financial support over the coming months.

I wish you and your families’ good health.

Brian Gorman
