Congratulations to Neil Plenderleith and Douglas Hewat on winning the inaugural Seniors Championship and “B” Division Seniors Championship.
Today’s finals concluded the week long match-play stages of the tournament which, notwithstanding the various medical check-ups, injuries and falls, was a great success.
Neil edged out Brian O’Neil at the last hole to win the Seniors Championship and the George Anderson Hunter Trophy. The trophy was kindly donated by George’s son John and we felt it fitting to ask John to present the trophy.
Douglas’s win over Charlie Love was a little easier but just as hard fought in order to win the “B” Division Seniors Championship and the Hugh J Lawrie Quaich which was kindly donated by Hugh’s son Alister who presented the trophy to Douglas.
Many thanks has to go to George Inglis and his team of Bob Bee and Bill Kent for all their work in the implementation and organisation of this championship which proved to be very popular with the match-play extremely competitive but, as always, played in such a friendly manner.
Well done all competitors this week.
