Mount Vernon Breakfast Update

Mount Vernon Sportsman’s Breakfast held on Sunday 25th March was, as usual, a fantastic success with the event managing to raise a fantastic £6,790.

The organisers would like to thank everyone who donated prizes, money, bought Raffle tickets, Hamper tickets & those who  attended, without them the success of the day would not be possible.

This now brings, Mount Vernon’s grand total to a staggering  £95,222.

The general consensus was that the Breakfast was one of our best to date with the three speakers at the top of their game and very entertaining

They now move on to the  Marie Curie Golf Day on Saturday 25th August and hopefully with support we will reach the magical total of £100,000 which goes directly to Marie Curie CancerCare, Frogston Road, Edinburgh.

** Congratulations go to those members who organise this, you know who you are! Without their efforts the whole day would not be possible. – Editor

Well Done Mount Vernon Charity Raisers

Recent update from Mount Vernon Golf Club

We at Mount Vernon Golf Club, Edinburgh (club within Liberton Golf Club) find our fundraising adventures very rewarding. Over the last 13 years we have raised over £88,000 for the Hospice here in Edinburgh.

Originally there were the 4 musketeers, Bob Holdstock, Colin McCallum, Billy McLean and myself Hugh Roarty organising our fund raisers. In the last few years we have been joined and ably assisted by Jimmy Gardener who has pushed us on and reinvigorated us to raise even more funds. All 5 of us have lost family to Cancer and were greatly served by the Marie Curie Hospice and knowing that our efforts make a difference makes it so rewarding.

Last year we were taken on a tour of the Hospice to see the great work being carried out by the caring staff who work there. On speaking to one of the nurses one could not help but feel the dedication and care offered by this consummate professional who took great pride in her role as a dedicated Marie Curie nurse.

We are delighted to be paying for Christmas Day this year at the Hospice and wish everyone a happy and peaceful day.
