The March Social has been booked for Friday, 9th March 2018.
Please make a note in your diary. Details to follow.
A mixture of main greens and winter greens were in play today. This is a very important transitional period on our greens as the frost comes out them. All decisions made on the playing condition of our surfaces are calculated to protect them.
On the creation of our new website and introduction of our online booking system it was decided to communicate all the information contained within the Fixture Card online. Competition information including entry details, course closed dates, competition details, regulations and rules can now be viewed through the various tabs located on the Competition Page of our website.
Home competitions can also be viewed through our online booking system which will give more detail as to times of play.
Although we have adopted an electronic fixture list we appreciate that some members may wish hard copy of the fixtures, therefore, should you wish to print a copy of the fixture list please click here for a PDF copy. A small number of hard copies are available through the Secretary’s office.
The entry sheets for the various Hole and Hole Competitions are now on the respective notice boards.
Please note entries close on 18 March 2018.
Recent update from Mount Vernon Golf Club
We at Mount Vernon Golf Club, Edinburgh (club within Liberton Golf Club) find our fundraising adventures very rewarding. Over the last 13 years we have raised over £88,000 for the Hospice here in Edinburgh.
Originally there were the 4 musketeers, Bob Holdstock, Colin McCallum, Billy McLean and myself Hugh Roarty organising our fund raisers. In the last few years we have been joined and ably assisted by Jimmy Gardener who has pushed us on and reinvigorated us to raise even more funds. All 5 of us have lost family to Cancer and were greatly served by the Marie Curie Hospice and knowing that our efforts make a difference makes it so rewarding.
Last year we were taken on a tour of the Hospice to see the great work being carried out by the caring staff who work there. On speaking to one of the nurses one could not help but feel the dedication and care offered by this consummate professional who took great pride in her role as a dedicated Marie Curie nurse.
We are delighted to be paying for Christmas Day this year at the Hospice and wish everyone a happy and peaceful day.
